COLLEGE FOOTBALL:  The Mountaineers in hot 'lanta right now as WVU gets set to take on Nick Saban and the 2nd ranked Alabama Crimson Tide tomorrow in the peach tree city.  West Virginia a decided underdog coming in to the contest as a  20 point plus underdog to Bama.  Kickoff time Sarurday is set for 3:30.  Last night in the top 25, one upset to report as down in Columbia, #21 Texas A&M spanked #9 South Carolina 52-28.  
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Friday opening night for most teams in North Central West Virginia as Morgantown is at home to take on Anacostia, D.C....University's on the road to meet John Marshall and Clay Battelle plays host to Paden City.  Elsewhere it's Fairmont Senior at RCB, East Fairmont travels to Liberty, North Marion hosts Elkins, Grafton's at Philip Barbour, Preston's at Hampshire and Bridgeport's at home to meet Buckhannon Upshur.  Kickoff time for all the games is set for 7:30.
NFL:  The Steelers close out the preseason last night with a dismal 10-nothing loss to Carolina at Heinz Field. Pittsburgh opens the season September 7th as they host the Cleveland Browns.
MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL:  The Pirates opening a critical 3 game set against the Reds tonight at PNC...COLLEGE SOCCER: It's a twin bill tonight at Dick Dlesk as the WVU Mens team takes on St. Johns at 5:30 while in the nightcap it's the 11th ranked Mountaineer womens team facing Duke at 7:30 and NASCAR:  Tony Stewart returns to action this weekend as he races at Atlanta.  It's Stewart's first competition since he struck and killed a fellow driver during a dirt track race in upstate New York three weeks ago.
